lyrics

I swore I'd write a song about the shit
that happened to us a couple months ago
it was cold, it was cold, it was cold, it was cold.
It was sometime in early November,
we made it all Last 'til December.
Then it all fell apart, but you know how that goes.

It was Christmas time,
I was living in my parents house, trying to get out.
You were going to college, and trying to move on with your life.
We didn't know what to do, but the feelings that we had got us through
all the stupid shit that'd happened in our lives.

(But wait, let's go back to the first time we met)

We met at a party, our friend was going off to war.
I sat on the couch, you sat on the floor.
I didn't think I had a chance
I knew nothing about romance
but I still gave it a shot and I tried my best.
I tried my best.

(Okay, now we can go back to what I was talking about in the first place)

So Christmas came,
and unfortunately I didn't have a dime to my name.
I was ashamed, I was ashamed, I was ashamed, I was ashamed.
You came over with a brand new guitar,
it's the one I still play today.
And I didn't know what to say.

So to pay you back, I'm trying to get my life on track.
And I'm still trying to get you back.
So, Merry Christmas. I wrote this song for you.
